Maggio e settembre sono le stagioni di lavoro: luce lunga, maree più tranquille, campi ancora usati. L'estate porta il caldo, le code e le giornate in cui la piazza si attraversa presto o tardi. Il Carnevale occupa le settimane prima della Quaresima, con un programma cittadino e le maschere nei campi. Il 21 novembre la Festa della Salute apre il ponte votivo sul canale.Carnival takes the weeks before Lent, with a municipal programme and masks in the campi. The Festa del Redentore falls on the third Sunday of July: a bridge of boats toward the Giudecca and fireworks over the basin on Saturday night. The Regata Storica runs on the first Sunday of September, with the historical procession on the Grand Canal. On 21 November the Festa della Salute opens the votive bridge across the canal.

La BiennaleThe Biennale

La Biennale alterna arte e architettura: arti visive negli anni dispari, architettura negli anni pari, dalla primavera all'autunno, nei Giardini e all'Arsenale. Negli anni di Biennale la città lavora in lungo per sei mesi, e i letti si prenotano prima.The Biennale alternates art and architecture: visual arts in odd years, architecture in even years, from spring to autumn, in the Giardini and the Arsenale. In Biennale years the city works at full length for six months, and beds are booked earlier.
